Game 8 brings another draw in the world chess championship where Caruana had the champion face his most unpleasant moment of the match. But one inaccurate step (24. h3?!) from Caruana was all Carlsen needed to save the day. The world title match is now deadlocked at 4-all after eight games.
Carlsen told the press he was happy to have survived it. “Some minor disappointment,” Caruana said when asked to assess his emotions after the match. “I thought at some point I had a very promising position. I didn’t quite see exactly which moment I had something very good.”
