"The Youngest Player who stole the show at Twin Rivers!"….Her age is 4 turning 5 in July and her very first tournament was The Twin Rivers Winter Chess Festival held on Saturday 30 May 2015. Anotidaishe Madamombe is doing Grade 0 at Waterfalls Gardens Primary and she received her first medal of her promising career for her outstanding performance in the U9 Section. Thanks to the private home lessons she receives twice a week from Knights Chess Academy Zimbabwe.
The turnout at the tournament was great! There where 2 sections, the U9 and the U13. Gerald Nyakuedza of Willenica Primary in Kwekwe, Refiloe Mudodo of Pathway Primary in Marondera, Panashe Zimbizi of MPF and Clever Gambe of Willenica Primary, Kwekwe were joint 1st at 5/5 in the senior category out of 96 participants. The founder of the new academy- Willenica School of Chess said he got the inspiration from Knights Chess Academy Zimbabwe…and he is going to move mountains! All the best sir in all your endeavours! In the U9 Section; 8 year old Tadiwanashe Madaka was the overal winner with 5/5 out of a field of 35 young Chessmasters.
Meanwhile, Churchill School is going to have its Churchill School Annnual Chess Festival on Saturday 6th of June 2015. Chess team/s are invited to participate. Each team consists of 4 players and schools bring as many teams as you can! Categories of teams: Senior teams (open) Section, Junior (forms 3 i.e 15 yrs and below) Section and Primary Schools teams Section. Please confirm your participation by telephone on or before 05 June 2015 to facilitate preparations. Entry fee per team is $25 and time: 8am -5pm. Knights Chess Academy with its mission of National Junior Chess Development is to participate in the Primary teams section with a team of only 6 year olds-3 boys and 1 girl!
