A lot of Harare Ghetto teams are thrilled with the idea of the informal Chess League which started in the Harare South West – High Glen Region last month. Some Chess Clubs are being formed with the motive of joining the league. We aim to have 20 teams for the 2016 season. So far we have:

1. Knights Chess Academy Zimbabwe

2. Mfombi Chess Kings

3. Budiriro Chess Club

4. Glen View Grandmasters

5. Kuwadzana Chess Masters

6. Budiriro 4 Primary

7. Alfred Beit Masters

8. Budiriro 2 Kings Chess Club

9. Lion King Chess Club

10. Highfield Chess Club

…and some from far away places couldn’t resist the league idea:

11. Ghetto Pirates (Mabvuku)

12. Chi-town Masters (Chitungwiza)

Some of the matches for this weekend are:

Sat 16 Jan 2016 sees the youth inspired Knights Chess Academy Zimbabwe lock horns with the deadly Chi-town team at Cabal Christian College, Gazaland Highfield @ 10am. Very talented chess players are coming to H-town tomorrow!

Glen View Grandmasters vs Mfombi Chess Masters on Sun 17 Jan 2016. Mfombi’s attack will be led by Cevan Murerwa, Terrence Mukovhiya…and Glen View’s Byron Gurajena, Anesu ‘Anand’ Masimba will be on top boards.
