The Africa Amateurs Chess Championship kickstarted on the 25th of February 2018 in Livingstone Zambia, with Zambia having several players in the U2300 Section, and Malawi fielding one ambassador, National Champion Chiletso Chipanga, who arrived in Livingstone on Friday evening. Botswana also sent Kuda Bayani. Zimbabwe National Champion Zhemba Jemusse (left in pic) made it to Livingstone and was playing in the top U23OO Section.The winner clinches a ticket to Italy for the World Amateurs event! Other Zimbabweans in Livingstone Zambia were; Tapiwa Chikwavaire and Lawrence Tavagwisa, and they played in the U2000 section. Angola had a player in this section Pedro Manuel; Botswana having Pudungwane Lesole, and Zambia again having a greater number of players in this U200O section. The other Section had; Angola, Botswana, Uganda and several Zambian players and this is the U1700 Section. Last but not least was the U2000 Ladies Section. The Zim players had a good performance, with all three clinching medals and trophies! Well done…
