Saturday, 13th of December 2014 was a great day for GNKCA at Glen Norah A hall. At 2PM Mrs Hausler from the German Embassy in Zimbabwe arrived at Glen Norah A hall, and this was her first time to be in this ghetto suburb of our beloved community of Glen Norah. As she entered the main door of this large hall she was welcomed by many young ghetto chess enthusiasts as well as older club loyalists; Mr Admire Mawire a top club stakeholder, Farirai Gumbe a top abbiter, Mr Juta of Cabal Christian College. She did an official presentation of some chess equipment and t/shirts to the club.

The German Embassy in Zimbabwe donated 6 Digital Clocks, 10 Chess Boards, and 40 branded t/shirts worth $1330 to the Glen Norah Chess Academy. Mrs Hausler had an opportunity to enjoy a good game with GNKCA’s youngest player 5 year old John Junior. She was really amazed by the young boy’s sheer strategic and tactical brilliance in the execution of the game. After the game the score board read Zimbabwe 1 Germany 0! The GNKCA Director and Founder John Chibvuri thanked the Embassy for its rare passion of the less privileged youths in the ghetto areas, as the donation will go a long way in helping the club. She also had a chance to meet some Zimbabwe national youth players who are club members: Rumbidzai Mawire (8) and Kudzai Mhandu (12). The Club also organized some entertainment for her, a cultural local dance group did a splendid performance.
