John Chibvuri Jnr (7) scoops his first major Gold Medal in a Primary School Chess Festival held at Blakiston Primary in Harare….

As the Harare Province prepare for the Primary Schools National Youth Chess Team selection tournament to be held this weekend from the 27th to 29th May 2016 at Alfred Beit Primary in Mabelreign Harare, John Jnr played the best games of his life to come out tops in the U8 section with an incredible 5/5. Consequently he scooped his first Gold, and he faced fierce competition from fellow Academy members; Tawananyasha Mawire of Avondale Primary in the 4th rnd and Tinaye Madamombe of Waterfalls Gardens in the 1st rnd. Tinaye and Tawananyasha collected Silver and Bronze respectively all at 3.5/5.

Lewis Munyoro of St Johns Pri. came 4th with 3/5, and Carlton Chapungu of Twin Rivers Pri. was 5th also with 3/5 in this Blakiston tournament held on Saturday 21st of May 2016. Best U8 girl was Iterlancia of Budiriro Pri. with 2/5. All the best youngsters in the coming Alfred Beit team selection tournament!

The U10 Section was won by Makatendeka Chibanda of Budiriro Pri. in a field of 20 youngsters. Ethan Levendale of Blakiston used home advantage as he won the U12 section with 4.5/5 fighting 46 youngsters in his section. Ryan Chigwengwe of Warren PARK 4 (Knights student) was 2nd with 4/5. Rumbidzai Mawire our Knights girl Legend won the Girls section. Well done youngsters!
