Bless Taurai ‘Tal’ Muzhingi (left) 5pts vs Roy Mwadzura 4.5pts in the 6th and last round of the 2018 Senditoo Chess Festival held at Face to Face Academy in the Harare CBD on Saturday the 25th of August.
The rising star Muzhingi (who once snatched Gold from the jaws of top seed ‘FM’ Hamandishe in the Bulawayo held 2018 NASH National Chess Championship event), this time he pips a seasoned top young player Roy Mwadzura in the 6th and last round of the Senditoo sponsored event to finish with a perfect score of 6/6! A new star is born..!
Taurai is from the small town of Norton about 40 min from the capital Harare. He attended school at St Eric High Norton. Bless Taurai Muzhingi was born in 2001, and we expect more tournament play and successes from this raw talent.
Girl star and the ever tough 15 year old Panashe Zimbili (4/6) claimed Gold in the U20 Girls Section (Girls were mixed with boys)…and she was tied on overall 7th, ..12th on Bucholtz out of a 46 player male dominated U20 section. Top three players in this section received cash prizes.
Another tough section the U16 category was won by Knights Chess Academy Zimbabwe (KCAZ) star player Collins Mabodongwa (4/5) tied with others but had a higher bucholtz ..
Other sections were: U8, U10, U14 ..top 3 young boys and girls won medals and certificates. T/shirts (Senditoo branded) were given to players and coaches for free..!
Mr Michael Musekiwa ran the event very well with his team. He thanked the Zimbabwe Chess Foundation (ZCFound), Pagomo, Senditoo, ToseSonke, Face to Face Academy for the job well done of making the event a success! Next year there will be another great Senditoo event..!
