The beautifully ravishing Golden Peacock Hotel in Lilongwe City Centre is the venue for the 2021 African Individuals Chess Championship (AICC) from the 17th to the 28th of May.
Lilongwe is the capital and most populated city of the country of Malawi. It has a population of 989,318 as of the 2018 Census. In 2020 that figure was 1,122,000. The city is located in the central region of Malawi, in the district of the same name, near the borders with Mozambique and Zambia, and it is an important economic and transportation hub for central Malawi. It is named after the Lilongwe River.
African chess titans will battle for honors from the 17th of May to the 27th (last round) in Lilongwe in the Open and Ladies Section.
According to a Malawian publication in the sports section ; top Grandmasters (like top seeds Egyptian; GM Dr Bassem Amin 2701, GM Adly Ahmed 2615) and other very tough players across the continent are set for the African tourney.
